The number of patients on hospital wards in England was at unsafe levels at nine out of 10 NHS trusts last winter, analysts have found.
To minimise the risk of infections and delays in getting treatment, hospitals are meant to have no more than 85% of beds occupied.
But the analysis showed 137 out of 152 hospital trusts stayed above that level the whole of December 2017.
Hospital bosses described some of the weeks as the “worst” they had ever seen.
The overcrowding lead to long waits for treatment and operations being cancelled at the last minute.
It was complete chaos…
✓ Thankfully, there is an alternative to horrifying waiting hours and cancelled operations. With winter just around the corner, put your health first and safeguard yourself against this dangerous situation, with health insurance ✓
Over a million people are currently waiting for NHS care; some for specialist appointments, even life changing treatments.
Health insurance allows you to bypass these absurd waiting times, meaning you’ll never have to worry about whether your operation will be cancelled, or if you’ll be waiting in a hospital bed in a corridor, undignified and unsafe.
Many people feel they have little choice but to rely on the NHS, as private healthcare is considered so expensive.
However, it’s actually more affordable than ever, thanks to new providers and the introduction of different levels of cover to suit every budget.
