As we finally approach 2018, many of us are coming up with the same new years resolutions that may involve either trying to save money or add additional income to their household.

However, one part of our lives that can easily be changed is the amount that we spend on energy bills. Although not the most exciting of topics, this article provided by Your Money Saving will make a major contribution towards you saving hundreds of pounds in 2018 without a you having to suffer the cold too badly.

Compare Suppliers – Although an obvious point to make, many Brits stick with the same supplier for years on end rather than look to switch and save money. There are now loads of comparison sites available so it’s definitely worth taking a look as a starting point to lowering your energy bills for next year.

Decrease Your Thermostat Level – Reducing your thermostat is another idea that you’ve probably already thought of but is something that is worth putting into action. Turning your thermostat down by only 1C can slash your heating bills by up to £85 a year. It also costs nothing to put a jumper or another pair of socks.

Energy Saving Light Bulbs – Although this is a theme that started a couple of years ago, there are many of us that haven’t caught on yet. Energy saving light bulbs last a lot longer than traditional ones making them more convenient as well. Older members of your family may not have realised the trend yet so it’s well worth checking with them so that they can save money as well.

Install Ceiling Fans – Rather than spending money on expensive air conditioning, have ceiling fans installed and enjoy the same experience for a much cheaper price.

Turn Off The Lights! – Although this goes without saying, making the extra effort to turn off lights when you go to bed or when you leave the house is valuable in the long run. Other bad habits to switch out of include turning appliances off and waiting until the dishwasher is full before switching it on.
