The Ultimate Summer Savings Guide

With the summer holidays in full swing, it can be difficult to come up with new and inventive ideas to make the most out of the good weather and save money at the same time. We’ve created a summer savings guide for you to take on, whether you’re saving for a holiday or setting some money aside just in case. This challenge will help you save little and (hopefully) often.

Taking Advantage of Extended Evenings and Warm Weather

Whilst it’s always nice retiring to the sofa in the evening to watch TV or stream one of our favourite shows on Netflix, why not save some electricity and venture out into the warm twilight evenings. Go for a walk in the park, play an outdoor sport or even just spend some quality time with some friends and family in the park. The beautiful British weather is always temporary so make the most out of it before the drizzle and cold evenings come back. Going out to see friends or spending quality time with family typically involves paying for the cinema or a restaurant to keep warm. However, during the summer time, the weather (usually) provides you with things to do outdoors which may result in being cheaper or even completely free.

Walk, Cycle and Avoid Driving

Driving is becoming more and more expensive with fuel prices constantly on the rise and the increase in the number of vehicles on the road at an all-time high. When you add that onto the stress of driving itself, it becomes a chore. So why not reduce the driving and walk or cycle instead? We’re not saying walk ten miles for a pint of milk but an easy trip normally accomplished by car can be more rewarding when walking, and even nicer on the wallet and environment. Remember that you don’t have to walk every day! Try walking and driving on alternate sunny days but don’t be surprised if you find the advantages are great enough to become a regular thing.

Theme Parks

If you’re planning a day out to a theme park then why not book tickets in advance. This could save up to 50% of the admission tickets if they were to be bought at the front gate. For younger kids, a trip to Chessington World Of Aventures is always a fun day out for the little ones, but for the older teenagers, Thorpe Park will keep them entertained with their large roller coasters, perfect for those who have the nerve to tackle some of Europe’s largest rides.

Use Airbnb To Save Money This Summer And Live Like The Locals

Saving money on travel can be great. Many people or switching to Airbnb compared to staying at hotels. Not only is it cheaper than pricey hotels, but with some Airbnb accommodation, it comes with a kitchen, which allows you to cook some meals in-house. Plus staying in a great neighbourhood full of locals is the type of travel that most people may enjoy. You can get to really know a city by staying in the heart of it with great Airbnb.
